Trinamool seeks inquiry into Assam PPE kit deal
The Trinamool Congress in Assam on Wednesday organised a ‘March to Raj
Bhavan’ searching for an inquiry into the 2020 PPE kit procurement discipline. The rally became once led by Assam TMC chief Ripun Bora who submitted a memorandum to the Governor .
The Aam Adami Birthday party, Assam, had filed an FIR in a Guwahati police predicament alleging anomalies within the procurement of PPE kits in Assam. AAP alleged that PPE kit contracts had been awarded to a firm linked to chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s primary other.
“Himanta Biswa Sarma awarded the contract to his primary other’s firm. He paid ‘990 for the PPE kits while others had been purchased at ‘600 apiece from one more firm on the same day. That is a worthy crime.” Opposition parties, including the Congress, Raijor Dal and Assam Jatiya Parishad, bear demanded a probe by the central agency into the ‘irregularities within the buy of sanitisers and PPE kits – in 2020. Round 50,000 PPE kits from Guangzhou in China arrived in 2020.
