Rouse Avenue Court docket has sent Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to CBI remand for 5 days till March 4, a day after he used to be arrested in the Excise Policy scam case.

Earlier than particular judge MK Nagpal, Sisodia’s counsel claimed that there used to be no evidence against him and adversarial the central company’s petition for his remand.

The counsel, exhibiting for CBI, submitted that the Aam Aadmi Celebration leader’s remand used to be wanted for efficient interrogation in the case.

Sisodia’s prison professional, whereas opposing CBI’s plea for custody, submitted that the CBI says he changed his cell phones, but that’s no longer against the law.

Sisodia’s counsel Dayan Krishnan said, “Glimpse at the arrest memo, CBI says he’s being evasive. The hunt happened in the space of work of Sisodia, inquiring for phones. On 7.09.2022, the awareness for phones came to me. On 19.09.2022, I gave them. On the final gape, I was finalising the funds, as soon as executed, I appeared, how am I evasive?”

He added, “Correct my client no longer cooperating can’t be a grounds for arrest…Correct because the accused can’t confess doesn’t mean he is never truly cooperating. Arrest no longer in conserving with the law.”

Senior Advocate Mohit Mathur making submissions on behalf of Sisodia said that the Excise Policy used to be utilized after taking suggestions even from the Delhi Lieutenant Governor and that because it required consultations, there used to be no probability of conspiracy.

“There had been suggestions given by L-G. Those had been incorporated into the policy sooner than it came into power. It required discussions and deliberations. When there are discussions and deliberations, there isn’t any longer any longer any room for conspiracy,” he said.

Sisodia used to be arrested on Sunday by CBI in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Excise Policy for 2021-22.
