Mamata slams Centre for slashing curiosity rates on EPF
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday slammed the Centre for slashing curiosity rates on Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), sarcastically bringing up that it became as soon as “present card” from the BJP authorities after the occasion’s victory in Uttar Pradesh. Banerjee known as for united protests to thwart this “anti-folks step, which has been taken on the expense of farmers, workers and the heart class”.
“After the UP victory, the BJP authorities comes out with its present card at as soon as! It, at as soon as, unmasks itself by proposing to cut the curiosity payment on Employees’ Provident Fund deposits to a four-decade low,” Banerjee tweeted.
On Saturday, the curiosity payment on staff’ provident fund deposits became as soon as lower to a four-decade low of 8.1 per cent for 2021-22 fiscal from 8.5 per cent the old year.
“That is amidst the pandemic-hit monetary stresses of the heart and lower center-class workers and staff of the country.” Banerjee wrote.
“The anti-folks, anti-worker step exposes the crudely lopsided public policies of the present central establishment, which espouses interests of extensive capital on the expense of farmers, workers, and center classes. The sad initiative wants to be thwarted by united protests,” she added.
